Clustering studies were started in the field of Health Technologies in 2016 as a part of
already existing cluster activities that focus on increasing the market share of
ODTÜ TEKNOKENT companies both in domestic and international markets and supporting
them to cooperate.
ODTÜ TEKNOKENT companies dealing with health technologies are working in the fields
of "medical device, health information systems and biotechnology" , therefore
the cluster established in this framework is named as "Advanced Health Technologies
Cluster" which focuses on "developing the technology".
ODTÜ TEKNOKENT hosts defence companies that are actively engaged in R&D as well
as many research centers and laboratories of ODTÜ. By 2010, these companies were
clustered under the name of Teknokent Defence Industry Cluster (TSSK).
The companies within TSSK that are expanding with the participation of other Teknokent
companies in the region have vertical expertise complementary to each other and adding
value to each other's capabilities and developing new products and services for
defence, aviation and security areas.
ATOM (Animation Technologies and Game Development Center) which is a pre-incubation
center, is established by ODTÜ TEKNOKENT to promote entreprenurship among
university students and where stuıdents can develop their software ideas and projects
with the possibility to establish their own start-ups.
Within 600 square meters of open office space including meeting rooms, the center
provides students, who are talented in the field of gaming, with infrastructure and
superstructure facilities as well as trainings and consultancy for development of
games, animations and simulation and most importantly the possibility of collaborating
with companies in projects.
“ODTÜ Technology Transfer Office (ODTÜ-TTO) ” is a structure created to support both
university-industry collaboration and technology-based entrepreneurship. During the
commercialization of the knowledge generated in academia, from patenting to
incorporation, both the financial and managerial processes are executed by ODTU
TEKNOKENT, on behalf of academicians.
ODTÜ TEKNOKENT has brought together the power of more than 165 high-capacity R&D
companies operating in the field of information and telecommunications and established
ODTÜ TEKNOKENT Information and Telecommunication Cluster - T.ICT in 2014.
T.ICT consists of companies of various sizes operating in a variety of fields such as
enterprise software, information security, intelligent systems, games, health
information, IoT, artificial intelligence, GIS, e-learning, mobile applications,
language processing, big data, simulation, image processing and telecommunications.
TÜBİTAK BİGG 1512 Individual Entrepreneurship Support Program provides support to
start-ups with T.BIGG program, which is run by ODTÜ TEKNOKENT, being one of the
implementing organizations. Training programs , mentoring, consultancy and financial
supports are provided to these start-ups within T.BIGG program.
New Ideas New Businesses (YFYİ), which is being organized by ODTÜ TEKNOKENT since
2005, is Turkey’s first and largest technology based entrepreneurship program. Its
fundamental aim is to encourage entrepreneurship through out the country and to infuse
this culture by motivating young people, especially the university students for
entrepreneurship.
YFYİ which is organized in collaboration with ODTÜ and ODTÜ TEKNOKENT, provides
appropriate environment for students and new graduates, who have innovative and
technology-based business ideas, to implement their ideas and support them to become
successful business people.
